We hosted and organised an energizing FREE workshop last month on “How to Publish your Book in South Africa” and with the feedback from our guests (50 delegates attended) and facilitators, it looks like we are going to put together another one here in Cape Town. Watch this BLOG! for more details. Give us your experience on trying to get your book published. What are the real issues you face?

What are your issues?

I think that the novelty of separating the publishing, printing, marketing and advertising costs allows for authors to effectively plan the release of their work in terms of costs to the detail. However my issues still remain the extensive time frames and marketing costs, tied to this is the complexity of the distribution channels. Been doing some research on this and am not finding a simple, cost effective enough, process yet.

Thank you Brandley, for your honest comment. It seems that the traditional distribution channels are not the most cost effective way for self-published authors. We need to come up with a better solution. Let’s open it up for discussion. Who has a solution?

Hello Barbara, good to see the family still alive and growing. I am amazed by the collection of titles and talent all published form your stable. I think it is time we put Newvoices on the map. authors pull together and let us showcase our work with Newvoices as the vehicle to carry our voices.
